On December 6, 1969, ZTA began its tradition of excellence on the Jacksonville State University campus. ZTA was the second sorority established at JSU, and throughout the years, they have continued the ideals of ZTA through sisterhood, service, and leadership.

Members of Zeta Tau Alpha are actively involved in community service activities as well as many aspects of college life. The ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha are active at JSU as JSU Ambassadors, Orientation Leaders (GO! Leaders), Peer Educators, Panhellenic Officers and Greek Counselors, Student Government Association Senators and Officers, Cheerleaders, and in numerous other organizations and honor societies.

The national philanthropy for Zeta Tau Alpha is Breast Cancer Education and Awareness, specifically the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The JSU Zetas participate in the "Race for the Cure" in Birmingham and the "Walk for the Cure" in Jacksonville. ZTA also greatly contributes to the ZTA Foundation with their fundraisers, such as the "Pick of the Patch" raffle, "Big Man On Campus" pageant, "Rise for the Cure" pink balloon release, and pink ribbon sales. In addition, the Zetas are very involved in community service within the Jacksonville area.
